What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is an Australian Government initiative that provides eligible children aged 2 to 17 with access to dental services. The program offers up to $1,158 in benefits over a two-year calendar period, helping families manage the cost of essential dental care.

Divine Dental Care in Croydon is a registered CDBS provider. We bulk bill directly through Medicare for eligible children, meaning there are no out-of-pocket costs for covered treatments.

What's Covered

The CDBS covers a broad range of dental services to help maintain your child's oral health. Covered treatments include:

• Dental examinations and check-ups
• Diagnostic X-rays
• Professional teeth cleaning
• Fissure sealants
• Fillings and restorations
• Extractions
• Root canal treatments on primary (baby) teeth

Please note that orthodontic treatment, cosmetic procedures, and services provided in a hospital setting are not covered under the CDBS.

How to Check Eligibility

Your child may be eligible for the CDBS if your family receives certain government payments. Eligibility criteria include:

• Your child is aged between 2 and 17 at some point during the calendar year
• Your family receives Family Tax Benefit Part A or certain other government payments such as Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY, or a Disability Support Pension
• Medicare sends a notification letter confirming your child's eligibility at the start of each benefits period
